We've been to Kuala Lumpur before but this time it's been exclusively Malaysia.
We had booked a 2 BHK apartment at genting Highland .
We flew through Colombo, Sri Lanka to our destination - Kuala Lumpur.
We
took a bus to Awana bus station and from there we availed the facility
of a free shuttle to Awana genting Highlands golf and country resort.
Getting
to all the places we visited in and around Kuala Lumpur was possible
only by bus or taxi, but the cool and pleasant atmosphere at our hill
station resort made up for it.
On
the day we reached we only had the evening left so we checked out the
mall at our bus station. food .
Next day we decided to go to genting .
A cable car takes you to the top of the mountain from the bus terminal.
An
inclusive stop at chin swee station is part of the ticket.we got off at
chin swee first. There are small caves and a path to enlightenment . A
huge statue of Buddha and a tower in the temple giving amazing views of
the countryside below. We could view our resort below and the bus
terminal surrounded by thick foliage of trees covered by clouds.
On going up further we reached genting.
It's
a huge place meant for entertainment and leisure. It has a snow world,
huge casinos , fancy restaurants , movie theaters and an arena of stars(
meant to be a theater for musical performances).
Snehal n me, both of us actually got lost at the casino.
It was my birthday. We
had lunch at the resort with the view of the valley and clouds and then
we decided late that we would go to Batu caves. We took a bus to gombak
and from there a taxi to the Batu caves.
The huge statue greeted us from afar standing at the entrance.
And
in the words that I had read somewhere we had to climb the "stairway to
heaven" to get to the Hindu temples inside the cave. The cave was big
enough for the temples inside which reminds you of the Hindu past of
Malaysia. The first temple in the cave has beautiful peacocks on its
outer walls colored with bright color. As per the Hindu rituals we
cannot enter a temple with shoes which is followed here.

On
the next day after that we visited Kuala Lumpur. We took a bus to kl sentral
and from there a train to klcc which takes u to the Petronas towers.
The twin towers are so tall that it is difficult to fit them in the
frame. There are people actually charging for the use of lens required
to fit the towers in your pictures.
In the evening we took a walk at klcc park. The park offers views of the twin towers since they are located next to it.

Next
comes our day trip to melacca. We got up early and went to the airport
and from there a bus to tsb and from there a taxi to melacca.
Melaka
has churches painted in red and tuk tuks taking you through cobbled
streets. It was influenced by a history of Dutch and Portuguese who
ruled here.
We took the river cruise as it took us to the mouth of the river we got to see the river front across the river.
Then we went to the church in the main Street.
From there to Baba nyonya museum.
Baba
means man and nyonya means lady. It was a house of a Chinese wed
Malaysian couple. The house was converted to a museum and thus you get
to see what a traditional house looked like from the inside. It gives
you a peek into the house of a local and is informative about their
traditions , customs and lives.
We then head to
Saint Paul's church . It is on a small hill and you can see the sea on
the horizon from the top. The body of a saint now buried in Goa was
first temporarily buried before being transferred to Goa.
View from the church |
The next day was Snehals birthday and it was filled with special experiences.
We roamed around at little India which was all geared up for the deepawali, and had lunch at aariya bhavan.
We
saw the acquarium at klcc. We saw a huge tortoise and sharks in the
water tunnel. Deadly fishes from over the world in the acquarium and an
otter playing in the water.
Then we took a taxi to Kuala Selangor .
There
we first went to see silver monkeys. These are cute harmless silver
monkeys you can feed, pet and play with them. They were there in
abundance , happily posing for an autograph. Also the view from the
location is a bonus.
From there to a small jetty
which takes a ferry to the end of the river where they feed eagles and
seagulls. The birds actually followed the ferry to the end where they
were fed with chicken thrown in the water . Obviously there was a crowd
of birds fighting for the feed.
EAGLES |
SEA GULLS |
Once it was a
little bit darker the ferry took us in the opposite direction to view
fireflies In the mangroves . There are so many fireflies lighting up the
banks of the river lined with mangroves that it feels like they are
natural lights blinking away. It's so unbelievable till you notice them
flying here and there when you look hard enough.
The day after that we shopped at padini and brands outlet and then a leisurely day spent packing and lazing around.
The next day we flew to Langkawi. We Were staying at the berjaya Langkawi resort. The room had a view of the ocean.
We
reached around afternoon so we had the evening for sightseeing. We took
a taxi which is the only possible way to get around, to the eagle
square and then to the Langkawi wildlife park and bird paradise. It was a
lot of unexpected fun.
We saw a cassowary for the first time .
Huge
ostriches, emus, white and blue peacocks, flamingos and grey cranes.
The birds are so close and you can feed them as per instructions. I
actually fed some birds. Also there were pythons you can take pictures
with.
On our last day we
went to the the top of the mountain with the bridge by cable car. You
get a view of the island from the top.
Also part of the ticket a dome
theatre movie is free where you feel you are on a roller coaster, and a
3d place where you can take pictures .
We
end the trip with a dinner at a Thai restaurant located in the ocean (
one of the restaurants at our resort). We had a red scrumptious red Thai
curry with rice.
So then it was a good bye to Malaysia and a trip of fun .
Good blog.
